Although Hostel Las Rejas is a tranquil hostel in a quiet neighbourhood, it´s only 2 blocks away from the central plaza. Friendly owners Ignacio Castellanos and María del Pilar Pereiras started their hostel in 2002 in a beautiful 19th century building. Over the years Ignacio and María added a Bed and Breakfast to the already existing hostel. The hostel and the B&B each have 5 rooms and the guests are attended by the owners themselves.
FACILITIES
The hostel has 2 dorm rooms (each with 4 beds), 2 doubles and 1 single room. All have private bathrooms. A dorm bed costs 30 ARS (for 120 ARS, the dorm room can be rented as a private room), the double room costs 75 ARS and for the single room 55 ARS are charged. Breakfast is not included but can be ordered for 6 ARS.
The Bed & Breakfast is located in the neighbouring house and offers slightly more luxury than the hostel. It offers 3 matrimonial rooms and 2 triple rooms as well as a good continental breakfast which is included in the overnight price. The matrimonials are priced at 140 ARS and the triples at 175 ARS.
All hostel and B&B rooms are equipped with fans and heaters, and sheets and towels are also included.
A guest kitchen is available and internet is provided on three computers in the TV room. Alternatively, you can use the hostel's WIFI. A small bar offers coffee and tea (2 ARS), bottled water (3.50 ARS), soft drinks (2.50 ARS) and small snacks, that you can drink/eat on the patio.
Laundry can be done for 15 ARS per machine load (washed and dried). A private parking space can be rented 1.5 blocks away for 17 ARS per day. A book exchange exists, valuable items can be stored in a safe (access only between 8am and 10pm) and each of the dorm beds has a private locker.
Tour agency "UMA Travel" is also located in the same building. For mountain bike tours in the region, ask for MTB Salta, which is owned by Ignacio and María's son Francisco Castellanos.
The reception is open 24hrs (use the door bell after hours) and Spanish and English is spoken. Reservations should be made at least 72 hours in advance via this site, the hostel's website or directly per email.
